Overview
Codes change yearly! We take seriously our obligation to provide you with accurate and up-to-date instruction. This course is updated for the FY 2026 code set.
The goal of accurate and complete IRF coding is to ensure the codes tell “the story” of the patient’s stay in rehab, capturing the severity of the patient’s condition(s) as documented in the medical record, and that the codes submitted on the IRF-PAI and UB-04 paint the same picture.
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility: The Challenges of IRF Coding webinar will prepare the learner to
- Choose the right impairment group and etiologic diagnosis
- Accurately code comorbid conditions and complications
- Choose the principal diagnosis on the UB-04
Apply what you learn! Coding of advanced case scenarios covered during the webinar include spinal stenosis, major multiple trauma, major multiple fractures, and more!

“I have been doing IRF-PAI coding for a number of years and have attended quite a few webinars/in-person seminars to stay current on compliance. The webinar I attended with Nirmala Sivakumar through Libman Education was, by far, the most concise and easy to understand webinar I’ve attended. IRF-PAI CMG/DRG coding can be confusing, but anyone new to the field who wants to learn, this would be the webinar to take. I am looking forward to hopefully many more webinars with Ms. Sivakumar.” — Teresa Gardner
“So happy you are offering this. Nirmala is very knowledgeable and I used to really enjoy the information she shared.” — Mary Jo Morelli, RHIT
“As I have said before, Libman helps answer more real life scenarios than most education and webinars.
“As a beginning tool for new coders or anyone trying to understand the IRF-PAI for coders, I feel it is well done. The class covered the main events that bring patients to an acute rehabilitation hospital. The side by side slides were very helpful because coding acute rehab can be so confusing. The class reassured me, that I have been coding correctly, and I guess I just needed that!” — Mary Hillebran, CCS, Inpatient Medical Coding Analyst
“The quality of the courses that Libman presents is excellent” — Pamela S., RN, BSN, MSN, CCDS, Director, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Sharp Healthcare
“Thank you! Your company provides outstanding service and we appreciate it!” — Jim Herren, RHIA, CCS, Parkland Health & Hospital System
“I tell everyone about Libman. I find that you have a very wide variety of choices in education that is actually needed and not so many things that aren’t really needed and can be mind boggling just trying to sift through it. Your website is well organized and everything offered is so well laid out and very informative as far as what you are getting, what I need and a very thorough write-up on everything offered. I’m so thrilled to have found your site!” — Sharon T
“I’m pleasantly surprised at your response … really didn’t think I would receive anything at all, so, thank you! I believe that alone says a lot for Libman Education. I would recommend you to other coding professionals.” — Jennifer Jones, CPC
“LOVEEE Libman! Very happy with the classes I’ve taken.” — Linda C.
“I love the courses at Libman Education.” — Joanne S., CCS
“Libman has exceeded my expectations so far in every way, with the content of courses, but the hands on with the instructors is one of the best and most genius things to offer! All other companies I’ve seen in my 12 years in this field do not offer this invaluable service with their education. Answers to questions on education content is something that was desperately needed, but to my knowledge, it was/is not offered anywhere else and this is what sets Libman apart from the rest. Also, your high quality education and very knowledgeable instructors.” — coding student
“Any of Libman Education’s courses are worth time and cost. Always walk away with a useable, clarity or reinforcement of subject matter.”
