AI Workforce Development Strategist

Teri Jorwic is Libman Education’s AI Workforce Development Strategist, leading the effort to recreate medical record coder training for the new requirements of an AI-supported healthcare industry. Teri is author of training and reference materials to support skilled coders, CDI specialists and others who require in-depth and detailed understanding of the coding systems and their use.

Teri is a subject matter expert in ICD-10 and HCPCS/CPT classifications and reimbursement systems. Teri is co-author along with Lynn Kuehn of ICD-10-PCS: An Applied Approach, which is updated and published yearly by AHIMA and received the 2014 AHIMA Literary Legacy Award. Teri is the author of numerous articles and publications related to proper and compliant coding practices. Teri’s commitment to training for medical record coders includes experience as an educator and consultant with decades of experience in academic, vendor and consulting organizations.

Teri is a committed HIM professional and has spent her career advancing the practice of medical record coding. According to Teri: “At this particular juncture, with AI support tools changing the role of medical record coders, we are once again faced with a challenge of reinventing ourselves as professionals and retooling our profession in service of the healthcare industry. I believe skilled coders are more essential now than ever before to ensure an organization’s coded data is correct and defensible. It is still being determined what the new ‘normal’ will look like, but I am confident that coding professionals are uniquely capable of meeting the moment.”
