Kelly McLendon, RHIA, CHPS
Kelly is a well-known consultant and industry expert in patient privacy and security, with specific subject matter expertise in the areas of artificial intelligence, privacy incident, detection and automation. He is also an industry expert in legal health records, HIM operations, electronic document management, and EHR project planning.
He is a frequent industry speaker and authored a book for AHIMA titled The Legal Health Record: Regulations, Policies and Guidelines. Kelly received the AHIMA Triumph Award in Innovation in 2015, the FHIMA Distinguished Member Award in 2008, and the AHIMA Visionary Award in 2003.
The Founder of CompliancePro Solutions, he first automated HIPAA privacy and security incident and breach management as well as built out fully functional HIPAA NIST privacy and security risk analysis assessment tools. After building from scratch, he sold that company and has in serial entrepreneur fashion created his newest company McLendon IP (the IP stands for Intellectual Property, which he creates daily). Kelly has in the past held senior management positions at Eclipsys and MedPlus and is known to present many, many speaking presentations about the HIM profession, AI and privacy and security to his peers around the country and occasionally outside the US. He is also an AHIMA Community of Practice for Non-Clinical AI member, creating with those excellent teams materials for wider HIM education and use.
